Tobe Yaki Popup Store

September 2 – September 20th, 2017

USN Gallery

We’re having a pottery popup store from Ehime at our gallery!
Even if you’re not into potteries in general, You would enjoy and be captured by beautiful, unique “Tobe Yaki”!

Located in the middle of Ehime Prefecture, the town of Tobe has been known for its mass production of “Tobe Yaki” since the Edo period and will be celebrating 240 Years of its ne craft of hands-on-pottery. With over 100 locations to hand craft numerous sorts of “Tobe Yaki”, each product is made with originality with some of the pottery following traditional patterns, and others representing the change in time with newer designs.

Alongside the historically rich crafts, hand picked local sake from the town of Tobe will also be sold here. Also, during a certain period, customers will be able to indulge in the experience by design- ing, painting, and even making their own original “Tobe Yaki”. Following this year’s theme in the town of Tobe {あそびべ、とべ}, we are looking forward to hosting a pop up store for 3 weeks here in TOKYO to have our customers get to know the craft of “Tobe Yaki”, and to introduce the town of Tobe. We hope to interest our customers in our little town and to have them travel to us in the near future. We look forward to seeing everyone!
