Tanaka (b. 1990) is a visual artist exploring notions of ‘I in society’. Believing that people in society are not ‘others’ but ‘I’, Tanaka uses video, installations, and performances to undo how society and history changes ‘I’ into the passive existence of ‘others’. By doing so, he aims to express emotions and possible characteristics of ‘I in society’ for himself to live more actively.
