UltraSuperNew Gallery is pleased to present ‘Survival Techniques,’ a solo exhibition of works by Naomi Edmondson from July 23 to July 31, 2018. This exhibition marks Edmondson’s first solo show in Tokyo and will feature a range of paintings, digital prints, and giclee prints. Edmondson has also recently won Street Artist of the Year at the global Rise Art Awards and has shown in Atom Gallery in London.

Naomi Edmondson is a painter and mural artist based in London, England. Her work explores the humanization of urban spaces through language, color, and scale. Pulling intuitively from her own experiences, Edmondson disseminates sympathetic yet encouraging idioms that are highlighted by its typographic aesthetics as well as vibrant color. Intentionally placing her works in public spaces, she directs the eyes of pedestrians and bystanders in hope of entrusting them with words of encouragement.

Presented across three different mediums, Survival Techniques features slogans that are instructive but sincere in their positive message. Her images use art as a way to reflect and uplift the soul. This exhibition will examine self-esteem and the delicate topic of mental illness in a generation where presenting an unfailingly happy persona has become the norm. Edmondson invites the viewer to take a moment to be reminded of the range of emotions we possess in order to embrace the full spectrum of our humanity.
